The End of Girl’s Basketball Season
By Roni Flynn
The Edmonds Woodway Girls basketball team suffered a devastating loss this weekend against the Lynnwood Royals. The game took place at 1:30 at the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Our Warriors started the game out slow, not scoring until three minutes into the first quarter. By the end of the first half, the score was 18 to 31, with the Royals up. Throughout the third quarter, the Warriors worked hard to close the thirteen point gap from the first half. With five minutes left of the third quarter, the score was 29 to 34, with the Warriors trailing by only five points. At the end of the third quarter, however, the Warriors were down by 11, with the final score being 36 to 47. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Warriors played strong. Halfway through the final quarter, the Warriors finally closed that score gap, making it 49 to 49. With four minutes left, Lynnwood Royals number 4 made an and 1, kicking off an 11-0 scoring streak leaving the Royals up 57 to 49 with three minutes left. The final score of the game was 59 to 69, with the Warriors losing by ten. Despite this loss the game before state, things are looking up. Next season is set to be a good one as this year’s varsity team had no seniors. Can’t wait for another great season!
